CIED 694v: Progressive Education Policy
(3 Graduate Credits)
Wednesdays 6:00 to 8:50 p.m.
Jason Endacott, Ph.D.
Chris Goering, Ph.D.
Course Description: This graduate course critically examines modern education reform movements in an effort to develop an understanding of their origins, motives, and “unintended” consequences. Students will move from the role of observers to the role of advocates, pursuing causes within the large spectrum of discourse about education. Readings and assignments will be drawn from relevant articles, books and journals to help educators become informed about modern educational reform motives and actions. While taking a critical approach to questionable practices and initiatives, we will also endeavor to reclaim the conversation and engage in constructive dialogue on a public level.
